Cisco NIM-4FXO = Voice / Fax Module
The Cisco NIM-4FXO is a 4-port FXO (Foreign Exchange Office) analog voice network interface module designed for Cisco 4000 Series Integrated Services Routers. It enables voice and fax applications using onboard DSP resources and supports common voice features such as caller ID, fax detection/pass-through/relay (T.38), DTMF detection, echo cancellation, and modem pass-through.
FXO ports are commonly used to connect to PBX/key systems or to provide off-premises connectivity to the PSTN. The module supports ground-start and loop-start modes, provides call detail record (CDR) information, and can interwork with Cisco Unified Communications Manager and major voice signaling protocols.
Key Features:
- 4 x FXO analog ports (Universal)
- Supported on Cisco 4300/4400 Series ISRs (Cisco 4000 Series)
- Onboard DSP (no separate PVDM required) with up to 128-ms echo cancellation
- Supports ground start and loop start modes
- Fax support: detection, pass-through, and relay (T.38)
- Caller ID and battery reversal detection support
